I ordered my iPad 2 at 10:00 p.m. on 3/11 and was originally given a ship date of 4/1.

I just received notification (late last night) that it's shipped and will be arriving on 3/30.

Looks like Apple is getting caught up on orders to me...

...snip... They have printed OLED displays on each key which can show images of letters or other icons representing shortcuts/functions that change depending on your active application. ...Here's one of them (http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus).
Nice idea, obviously very customisable, but for repetitive stuff in the hands of an experienced operator...don't you just become a touch typist?

I found the 11 to be too small for my needs. Can't really get serious work done on it so I gave it to my sister.

Where are those holy souls who claimed that Android was finished when iPhone launched on Verizon. I still see a 7% growth for Android compared to a negligible 0.02% for iPhone. According to a survey, the Thunderbolt is selling more than the iPhone at most of Verizon stores nationwide. :D

I don't think the Verizon iPhone release will affect Android much, but these numbers hardly justify gloating. They only contain 2-3 weeks of Verizon iPhone sales out of the 3 months they are reporting.

Apple STICKS to their major plans / release schedules. They don't care about what competitors are doing. I believe they are rarely surprised. Superhuman? No. Infallible? No. Confident in themselves and meticulous in their planning/execution? Absolutely.

Apple's invitations for WWDC said the future of Mac OS X and iOS will be the focus. So, why would Apple not also show off the new hardware that will take optimal advantage of the new software?!

iPhone 5 WILL be revealed at WWDC and avail for purchase very end of 3rd week of June or sometime during 4th week.
iOS 5 will be previewed at WWDC, though does not need to be available by iPhone 5's release.
Rather, iOS 5 will likely be released at same time as Lion (also previewed at WWDC) later in the summer.
Finally, I bet Apple TV running iOS 5 will also be shown with ability to access App Store winning the battle for the living room.

We've heard rumors of a metal back for iPhone 5...I'll also bet iPhone 5's metal back and frame is made using alloys from LiquidMetal...have we all forgotten that little licensing deal? Thin, lightweight but extraordinarily durable. Steve will be able to once again declare it is the thinnest, lightest phone available...beating their own previously released product once again.

After WWDC, you're welcome to slam away if I'm wrong. The only question I have remaining...besides having maybe slightly better cameras and slightly faster speed, what else could they possibly build into the iPhone to make it magically amazing and a must have for iPhone 4 owners?! Also, when's the iCar coming with an augmented reality windshield for weather, traffic, and navigation? ;-)

Oh please. word opens in like less than a second and I only have a core duo and 1.5gbs of ram.

I only have 1 GB with my MacPro. Excel & Word only run slowly if I'm also running Parallels Desktop for Mac at the same time. Add in FireFox & you'll find out how slow virtual memory can be big time.

At those time I'm not sure I can wait until those FB DIMMs come down in price to a more reasonable, affordable level.

I thought/think it conceivable they would release a higher-priced Retina version of the iPad 2 just prior to the holidays to keep ahead of the competition. This is assuming the A5 SOC has the horsepower for it, and that the screens are available in high enough quantities.

What competition? It was never conceivable, and only complete amateurs who are completely removed from any knowledge of Apples own trends thought it possible.

Gordon Moore would probably beg to differ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore's_law). By the time Merom is out the current Yonah processors should become cheap enough to allow a $100-$200 price drop for a Mac mini.

    B
Interesting...I just wouldn't want Apple to have to resort to using Celeron processors to make their products cheap. My main consideration for buying a Mac was not just the OS, but the fact that I knew I was getting a quality machine that would stand the test of time and not fry like my Vaio desktop did after 2 years...

i think this is just another case of some techs seeing a minor flaw (if that) in an apple product and making a big deal. From the possibility of picking up a innocuous signal emitted from a device, to suddenly it's a security risk compromising our privacy.

Any tech who picks up the slightest flaw in an apple device instantly contrives to describe it as a 'security' problem due to apple's relatively good record on security.

It's a compliment really. No one bothers to go to that excessive trouble with microsoft supported products 'cause they almost certainly contain security flaws.

All these sad losers are falling over themselves to expose the FIRST significant Apple security hole.

They cheated. You can't bash it up and fold it in half before you blend it.

Result: Will the iPad blend? = Inconclusive

/me is hoping Nokia and MS can get their &$?t together and come up with an alternative to Apple. Not that I would switch, but if I had to I'd rather go to another monolithic system than the fragmented mess that is the Android landscape

The world's best movie editors never do their job on Mac platform, on which there is little resource/tools compared with other OS, dont they?
A software on mac could be even called a great news. so as steam.

The same thing just needs more hardware resources on Mac.
e.g., for starcraft 2, one needs 1gb on win but 2 on mac...

Video card perfermance is another restraint, may be due to bad driver development.

Are you serious? Please don't come in here with such moronic comments like that. Think before you speak, you will find that things in life will move along better for you.

Stick a "Burn to DVD" button on it or else it would be utterly useless to me... my desk chair is comfortable but not "watch a movie" comfortable

Exactly. MAYBE I'd do like 2 buck "rental" where they stop working after a couple days. I guess you could always do a DVI to HDMI cable for your TV couldn't though huh?

Did you notice the double slots at the top where the front facing camera and ear speaker are?
I wonder what that is for. My Black iPhone 4 does not have that.

Yea I had the same problem as well, I really loved the 11 macbook air but than after awhile I switched back to the 13 inch macbook air b/c my neck cant handle it anymore and I feel really clastrophobic. It hurts real bad so I dont think I will be going back to the 11 inch any sooner.

...Look unless you are constantly chasing the latest and greatest then you are going to miss every other iphone model. I have the iphone and by the time my contract runs out I will likely be getting the iphone 6. I will miss the iphone 5.

Very well said. A very thoughtful and rational statement. The histrionics from some members can be too much at times.

Enough about all that... all the juicy stuff is in the leopard release. While I doubt we will jump to OS 11 in january, this underpinnings thing sounds interesting.

The thing that gets me  is the 3d capabilities. A 3d dock? A 3d expose? A 3d filesystem viewer? or just a simple 3d affect used when, i dunno turning on?

    I really wanna know!!!

I also wanna know what these half dozen or more main features are, In .4 it was dashboard that apple showed off, i just can't think of anything that would be so... cool.

I also wonder what these business features are... Hopefully a new iWork included in the system, a mistake Microsoft made early on.

Sorry but that's not the case, created an account just recently to provide my input on this issue on another thread. I am 3 iPads down with problems and still hoping the 4th will arrive with no leakage or dead pixels. I'm glad yours is "absolute fine" but if you do a search or just ask around you will find this is a widespread problem

Maybe you're just one of a few guys who always have something to complain about that apple staffs just got tired of dealing with or they are too busy taking ipad 2's order that they just gave you a replacement without question. I bought 2 ipads on launch day and have experienced no problem so far. Good luck to you and hope you'll be happy some day.

FACT: Apple doesn't access the database cache, emails, passwords, photos on your phone either.

Huh? That's funny - you must not have read their press release, Mr Consultant.
