This 3D tech is not as cool as it looks in these videos. Both your eyes receive the same image, so your brain knows its not 3D. Nothing will look like its "popping" out of your screen at you.
Well, considering that nothing is "popping" out of Youtube at me right now I'd say that it'll be exactly like it looks in these videos!

The difference compared to the old one is to small. I assume that many iMac users with an iMac 2007/2008/2009/2010 don't buy a new one.
Then you've not been reading the latest benchmarks. The top of the line will outperform my 2009 quad MacPro.
However, I'll agree that of the years you listed, the age of your current iMac is likely directly related to the chances you will upgrade.

Not gonna happen. For starters, how do you type in names for your audio tracks when you've got your keyboard swapped for a mixer? :)
Still, neat idea.
External keyboard.
The overlay input device would obviously need to replace the laptop's keyboard, but plugging in an external keyboard would be easy enough.
I don't agree with "Spanky Deluxe" who said that these overlays would cost a fortune.
They would certainly cost less than buying a completely physically separate component.
I keep imagining something like those "Z-Board" gaming keyboards that are custom made for each game, but in this case it's just the overlay and the functionality that changes.
Interesting...

Instead of an iPad 3 rumor, wouldnt it be a Mac tab.. Like you reported early last week... The patent about spaces for a tablet device? Wouldnt that be clear to indicate that's apple is planning a mac tab running OS X lion?

Why take that attitude? Sometimes it is nothing more than a simple mistake. However, if you automatically start to throw defenses up, you will make people think that you have something to hide. I would simply lock the device and hand it over then retrieve it on the way home. No biggie.
I didn't really have anything to hide but things I just didn't want the school or principal to see, nothing illegal or anything like that. Just personal things and also information that is confidential to the family.

He'll probably only tell half the story and you'll have to buy the updated edition to hear it all.
More realistically, you'll have to pay $1.99 for the errata in a year or two that fixes all the typos....because, you know.

As of right now, you cannot buy one for $159 each. Read the page: it says "currently unavailable."
I have caught Fry's doing this four time just since their site opened. In the store, they will advertise some great deal, but you have to be a trained investigator to find it. They will hide the sale item around many higher-priced similar items with visual 'hooks'. There is no pointer to the sale item. You almost have to read the number and match it to the product. Often, there will not be any available and you must ask for them. On the website, they have a disclaimer, 'subject to prior sale'. I have yet to find one of the items I am looking for 'not sold out'. It is just short of being shady. But, if you are patient and pay attention, you can find some good deals there.

Why do I get the feeling that, yet again, this product will be US-only at launch? Oh yeah, no-one in UK has heard of Cingular, that's why! ;)

Because so much of the cost of a computer is the cost of the CPU? Of course not. Everyone can see there's more to an iMac than just the CPU.
Scrolling through some of your previous posts, I have to wonder why you bother with this site, you're never going to see something you like.
While the Mac is more the sum of its parts, lilo is perfectly right with his assertion. Apple doesnt want transparency that detracts from whatever they preach. Nevertheless top product though somewhat underspecced for 2k.
180 markup for i7 upgrade? Plzzzz

Reboot - no difference. Unplug MX1000 cradle from power - no difference. Plug mouse cradle into USB port on laptop, instead of on hub - works. Pull out - macbook kernel panics on me :(

Does this also apply to the late 2008/early 2009 white macbook? Or am I still limited to 4GB?
Edit: Nevermind. Reread again saw that the article stated alum Macbooks. I guess I just got a little excited there. At first glance, thought the artice was talking about all Macbooks in general...

I wonder, in this process, how many FTE are going to be dedicated to receiving and aggregating this dayda. Or if the app development itself signaled the end like has been mentioned. I'd be nice to receive something as a followup; maybe a post card from ATT.

You got that right. If he fails, I think we are going to hear Italian fans all over the world just go nuts...
If he wins, 12.21.2012 won't match what happens in Italy :)

Garmin/Tomtom and co should be scared.
Na, these two have and will survive without iPhone.
These already have traffic capability anyway ( via subscription service).
I use the Navigon iOS app and Apple would have to produce something truely remarkable to make me switch from that. They do store the Navetec maps locally so it continues to work without a cell signal. They also offer lifetime traffic and speed/stop light camera locations.

As much as the White iPhone 4 is sexy, I guess my dream of an Aluminum-back iPhone 4 is shattered... At least for the time being. I would love to see a white front with aluminum backing...
When was that ever on the cards?

I'm not surprised, they are probably holding off, so that way when they release iWork/iLife it will be to fanfare rather then just a mediocre entry after the grandiose iPhone.

Nope. That' not it. They just don't want to give you the SKU because otherwise you could easily figure out how much you are overpaying.

This is why the notion that Israel is a democracy is so laughable. It is a democracy in Israel proper, where the Jews are artificially kept the majority (i.e it's a democracy for the Jews in Israel proper), but in areas where they would like to be but do not want Arab influence in their politics, they build Jewish only settlements. So it's a "democracy" only where they want it to be and for those they choose based on ethnic/religious background.
Sooo...you don't see any problems that would occur if muslims became a majority there? Such as Iran part 2, sharia law. There's nothing racist about wanting israel to not become a muslim country. They wanted to partition it, but the palestinians wouldn't take that offer. they could have had their own "peaceful" nation by now. The chose not to, now they can deal with it. Let me ask you, would you consider yourself racist if muslims began playing a major role in canadian politics and imposing Islamic law on all canadians and you had a problem with it? Israel today is a modern secular nation, it is know as a "jewish" state, but their laws are secular. Why would they want to risk ruining all of that? They've made a great country out of the hell hole that land once was. You need to look at it from their POV. If the palestinians were peaceful secularists, there would be no problem right now.

Do they mean 2 "full" people? What about that ad where you saw ppl playing a question game and hammering their palms with thier fists?
The company that makes the technology that MS uses to make Kinect is called PrimeSense. Here is some info talking about what you are questioning...
PrimeSense reps also told me that the camera can "see" any number of people on the screen -- you can fit as many people in that camera as possible, and the computer will see all of them and can even recognize them as human shapes. But it can only run calculations on two people at a time, just because the processing power required to track all of the body's locations and movements is so great (Update: See below). During our testing with the device, a person moving in front of the camera was able to "steal focus," but the computer can also be told through gestures to keep focus on a certain person.
Update: PrimeSense has gotten in touch with us to say that it was only the demo software it showed off at E3 that could support only two users, not the hardware itself. Theoretically, with enough processing power, PrimeSense's hardware licensed by Kinect could support any number of players.
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/19/kinect-how-it-works-from-the-company-behind-the-tech/
So, there is still a while before it launches, and it could be updated down the line, but I think it is safe to say that you will probably only have 2 players playing most all games. But really, that sounds fine to me. I can't say 4 people jumping and flailing around my living room would work very well, so a limit of 2 is ok.
